You may not be aware that there are lots of styles of bathroom on offer, and looking at all of them, you would be forgiven for falling into an analysis paralysis.  So, here we’ll give you a brief overview of the four most popular bathroom designs in modern bathroom fitting.

Traditional

Traditional bathrooms are well, traditional.  Characterised by their simple yet elegant designs, verging on rustic traditional bathrooms touch on Victorian influences that work in the modern world.  They’re particularly low-tech, often relying on windows and bright colours to light up a room.  Predominant tiling, and Wainscoting are also nothing out of the ordinary for a traditional bathroom.

Regardless if this floats your boat.  You are sure to be in for a treat with this aesthetic style that has truly stood the test of time.

Transitional

Take the ‘Al’ off of the name of this style and you’ll uncover the main focus of a transitional bathroom, Transition.

Transitional bathrooms aren’t necessarily a school of style, but a school of purpose, that features walk-in showers, accessibility and suitability for those who are less mobile.  Transitional bathrooms tend to be quite flexible when it comes to aesthetics, so no matter what you choose, a transitional bathroom is always one that’ll be a joy to be in.

Contemporary

Contemporary or ‘current’ bathrooms are exactly that. The current principles that drive the contemporary scene are ‘elegance’, ‘effectiveness’, ‘efficiency’, and nice open spaces.

Contemporary Bathrooms tend to be clutter-free, with sharp edges and magnificent colour schemes with contrasts to boot. Marble and granite counters tend to be prominent but woods and metals are not out of place here. With recessed lighting and well hidden electronics, contemporary bathrooms are truly rooms for the home of the future.

Modern

Modern. it’s a tricky word, but don’t get confused by it. it doesn’t mean the same as contemporary and most people often get them mixed up or use them interchangeably. Modern is short for ‘Mid-century Modern’ and it’s design principles are derived from the years between 1920 & 1950, but with a modern technological twist.

Modern bathrooms are clutter-free just like their contemporary counterparts, but have the flexibility of using more time tested materials, like stone and teak. Similarly, you’ll find sharp edges and square spaces here too, but they’ll be nicely contrasted with the odd round corner here and there, or a round mirror for that step-back in time look.
